Nanotechnolofies in bio and chemical sensors for environmental and human health monitoring

 

Works on nano materials application for the developments in the following areas are successfully carried out since 2005:

  • New generation of high sensitive and selective electrochemical sensors for environmental monitoring, evaluation of human organism state and differential diagnostics of infection diseases on early stages in-situ and on-site;
  • Methods of stem cells direct investigations and differentiation.

Metal (or their oxide) nanoparticles are applied as:

  • transducers in sensors for the determination of metal content, thiols and disulfides, in biosensors (sensors-biomimetics and immunosensors), sensors for solution oxidant/antioxidant activity monitoring by potentiometric method;
  • catalysts in sensors-biomimetics for the determination of urea and creatinin;
  • markers and signal forming elements in immunoanalysis for immunodetection of cell pathogens and creation of on-site monitoring express methods;
  • markers and signal forming elements in the investigation of stem cells migration and differentiation, their participation in various tissues regeneration.

New in principal analytical and diagnostic instruments for environmental monitoring, evaluation of the human organism state and differential diagnostics of infection diseases on early stages in-situ and on-site are designed on the basis of the sensors developed.

Following developments are made for the purposes:

  • nanoparticles synthesis methods;
  • methods of nanomarkers introduction into the cells by means of specific polyfunction cover;
  • electrochemical methods of the detection of nanoparticles sorbed on the cells;
  • approaches and algorithms of hybrid immunochemical analysis;
  • transducers as immunosensor’s part;
  • method of antibody (antigen) immobilization on the transducer surface;
  • nanocatalytic systems (metal oxides) for biomimetic sensors;
  • methods of synthesized nanomaterials immobilization on the surface of carbon containing substrates;
  • conditions for direct investigation of stem cells migration and differentiation.
Application fields:
1) monitoring of environment, foodstuffs, nutrients, drugs (sensors for heavy metals determination);
2) evaluation of antioxidant activity of foodstuffs, nutrients, drugs (sensors for monitoring of oxidant/antioxidant activity of the solutions);
3) medical diagnostics:

  • monitoring of human organism microelement balance (sensors for heavy metals determination;
  • differential diagnostics of infection diseases on early stages in-situ and on-site (immunosensors);
  • detection of antioxidant stress at various pathologic states, age-related changes (sensors for the determination of oxidant/antioxidant activity of solutions);
  • thiol/disulfide ratio monitoring.
4) monitoring of dialysis processes (sensors biomimetics for urea determination and sensors for the determination of oxidant/antioxidant activity of solutions);
5) Therapy effectiveness monitoring (sensors for the determination of oxidant/antioxidant activity of solutions);
6) Investigation of stem cells migration and differentiation processes (markers and signal forming elements);
7) On-site and on-line monitoring of water treatment processes – chlorination and ozonization (sensors for the determination of oxidant/antioxidant activity of solutions).
